The Chicken Feast

July 28, 2011

We had our Chicken and other birds on Saturday 23rd July. Four birds turning slowly on the spit for a few hours –  acquiring a golden tan from the coals.

Here are a few pictures of the calm before the storm

Leila and Sarah – two lovely ladies from WN Feast – came to document our shenanigans (thanks to Leila Wong for these gorgeous photos) and, *shudder* to record us on tape – I never knew I could talk so much! We’re contributing a recipe to their Feast Cookbook website which should be up and running soon so keep an eye out for it and be sure to visit the markets on the first Sunday of each month.

The chicken went on to our fab bicycle spit (thankfully powered by the National Grid and not my legs).

Once the guests arrived we served up duck rillette on brioche and the much anticipated chicken hearts marinaded in maple syrup and bourbon.

four birds a spinning

and when the chicken birds had rested we all sat down to a feast of food and drink and words.

The next feast is Celebration of the Cow on 13th August. Email queensofcue@yahoo.com to book your place. See you there.
